Saving Money on Flights
We mostly use SkyScanner to scan out the best deals on flights.
Before booking a flight, we always scan the price for the cheapest fares over 30 days. Travelstart.com and Skyscanner.com travel fare engines are great for this. You can mix and match the cheapest flight times for your requested dates. As long as you have some flexibility, you can often save some money. Often, we find that flying on a Tuesday or Wednesday and avoiding weekend travel is much cheaper if you want to save money on plane tickets.
1.
Return ticket cost vs Oneway ticket cost
Looking at the difference in price between return tickets and one way ticket to your destination and the another one way ticket back home can sometimes save you more money.
2.
Direct booking for security and other perks
When using SkyScanner, search your flights and once you decide on the best option for you- book directly with the air line and not through SkyScanner as the price with the airline is exactly the same but booking directly allows for better security, online check in and other perks
3.
Be flexable
Flexibility is key when it comes to reducing the cost of flights. We had a plan to fly from Turkey to Armenia and at the last minute we changed our mind as the flight costs from Turkey to Russia was half the price and Russia was also on our list of places to explore. Flexibility in location will help save money and perhaps introduce you to a new country or region too.
4.
Travel in off peak-season
Traveling in the off-season can save you costs not only on flights but accommodation and tourist activities as well. You can find great specials during off seasons as well as experience the country with out the hoards of tourists and queuing for activities.

We have stories to tell, not things to show.
